On March 20, Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, met with the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.

"The historical strategic partnership between Lithuania and Poland is only getting stronger and gives a new impetus to the whole of Europe," said Landsbergis, emphasising the mutual agreement to continue the dialogue.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed the need to join the efforts of like-minded nations in preparation for the Washington summit and to achieve the fastest possible integration of Ukraine into the EU and NATO.

They agreed that it was necessary to fundamentally change the old Western approach to Russia's threat, prioritising its comprehensive containment.

"One of the ways to weaken Russia and achieve Ukraine's victory is to tighten sanctions against Russia and Belarus further. The countries that border with Russia and Belarus must adhere to a unified mechanism for implementing sanctions and prevent their circumvention with a joint effort", Landsbergis noted during the meeting.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed the need to implement critical infrastructure projects without delay, which would strengthen the economies of Lithuania and Poland and the security environment.

The head of Lithuania's diplomacy also invited Sikorski to the annual convention of heads of Lithuanian diplomatic missions.
