Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis confers Lithuania's Diplomacy Star on Dr Lara Lempertienė
On 17 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis conferred the award of honor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Lithuania's Diplomacy Star – on Dr. Lara Lempertienė, Head of the Judaica Research Centre at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the dissemination of research on the history and cultural heritage of Lithuanian Jews abroad, and to the commemoration of the Vilna Gaon’s 300th birth anniversary and the 700th anniversary of the history of Jews in Lithuania.
During the ceremony, the Foreign Minister underlined the importance of inter-institutional cooperation. “You have significantly contributed to the strengthening of our foreign policy and have helped us to fulfill our common mission — to spread the message about the history and culture of Lithuanian Jews,” said Landsbergis.
Dr Lempertienė specializes in the cultural history of the European Jewry and Jewish classical texts.
Established in 2010, Lithuania's Diplomacy Star is given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania to Lithuanian and foreign citizens and organizations for promoting Lithuania abroad and fostering transnational relations.
