Award of the Order of Merits for Lithuania to Robert James Shiller, a Nobel Prize Laureate and professor at Yale University
On December 2nd Consul General Vaclovas Šalkauskas presented the award of the Order of Merits for Lithuania to Robert James Shiller, a Nobel Prize Laureate and professor at Yale University who is proud of his Lithuanian ancestry.
"I am extremely honored to present this award on the behalf of the President of Lithuania and I would like to wish Professor Robert Shiller strength and health to continue his work," - welcomed the Consul and shared his recent impressions of the Lithuanian students studying at Yale University who visited the Lithuanian Consulate. The students were excited to share how Professor Robert Shiller is interested in Lithuania and how he pays attention to Lithuanian students.
Professor Robert Shiller shared his family history. All four of his grandparents came to the United States from Lithuania in 1910 and joined the Lithuanian community in US.
Robert Shiller is on the list of the most influential economists in the world today, and his research is recognized as a part of the history of the world economy science. Professor's lectures are one of the most popular in global economic forums. His advice is used not only by academics, but also by the world's most influential leaders. In 2013 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. The professor gave lectures at Vilnius University and was awarded the title of Honorary Professor of ISM University of Management and Economics in Lithuania.
