Temporary Travel Document

For Lithuanian citizens and current residents of Lithuania, please visit the following link with the  information in Lithuanian.

Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in New York issues the EU Emergency Travel Document (ETD) to Lithuanian citizens and current residents of Lithuania, only to return to Lithuania, if their passport was lost, damaged or expired.

To obtain the ETD, it is necessary to apply in person. If the applicant applies by mail, he/she must pick up the document in person. Only the U.S. Immigrations authorities can apply and receive the document by mail.

Applications for the ETD must be submitted to the consular office via the Lithuanian Migration Information System (MIGRIS). Information on how to submit an application in MIGRIS is available here (in Lithuanian language).

The ETD is valid for a period of up to 15 days from the date of issuance. The ETD may be issued for a longer period if the trip exceeds 15 days or if other important circumstances prevent the person from returning to Lithuania within 15 calendar days. The validity period indicated on the ETD cannot be extended.

Please register for a consular appointment or arrange your visit in advance at Consulate general in New York by phone + 1 212 444 7282 or email consulate.newyork@mfa.lt
