Please join our celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Restoration of Lithuania‘s Independence on Tuesday, March 10th, 7 PM.

Celebration will take place at the Manhattan‘s Saint Peter‘s church together with a phenomenal piano player Andrius Žlabys and a talented soprano Kristina Malinauskaitė.

During the event the former special adviser on Baltic affairs to Secretary of State, analyst, writer and former Deputy Director of the „Radio Liberty“ , Professor Paul Goble will give a speech.

 Professor Paul Globe, a longtime specialist on ethnic and religious issues in Eurasia, Paul has worked at the Central Intelligent Agency, the Foreign Broadcast Information Service, he served as Special Advisor for Soviet Nationalities and Baltic Affairs at the US Department of State, he was the director of research and director of communications and technology at Radio Liberty / Radio Free Europe, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He has taught at the University of Maryland, George Washington University, Georgetown University, the institute of World Politics, the University of Tartu, and Audentes University in Tallinn.

 Andrius Žlabys. The Cleveland Plain Dealer pronounced pianist Andrius Žlabys “a virtuoso of fabulous technique and romantic temperament who performed like an authentic heir to the grand masters of 19th-century keyboard tradition.” A winner of Astral Artistic Services’ year 2000 National Auditions, Astral presented him in recital performing the entire Book I of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, a performance The Philadelphia Inquirer claimed “rippled off his hands with such open-hearted rightness that you couldn’t escape the notion that the pianist was acting as Bach’s ventriloquist.” Žlabys has appeared throughout the world as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Andrius Žlabys made his Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2001. He has also performed in Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, and has made his Concertgebouw debut in Amsterdam. He was featured at the 2004 Menuhin and Salzburg festivals, and has participated in Austria’s Lockenhaus Music Festival, and at Germany’s Kronberg Academy, where he performed with Yuri Bashmet. http://www.musicperformers.lt/Andrius-%C5%BDlabys

 Kristina Malinauskaitė – a soprano of Lithuanian-Russian origin, is an Alumna of LaGuardia HS and has her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and minor in Technical Theater from The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. She has performed with Amore Opera, Bronx Opera, dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, The Martina Arroyo Foundation Inc., and Music by the Lake. She has sung the roles of Olympia in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Despina in Così fan tutte, First Fairy in The Fairy Queen and First Witch in Dido and Aeneas as well as Lieschen in Bach’s Coffee Cantata and the Soprano Solo in Schubert’s Mass in G Major.  Recently, Kristina Malinauskaite was invited to give a recital at the Consulate General of Lithuania in New York City and has performed the role of Philonia in a newly written opera farce La Zombiata with the Fresh Squeezed Opera Company.
