MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE DEMONSTRATION OF NAZI FLAG AND SLOGANS

We strongly condemn the demonstration of Nazi flags and slogans. It is considered to be an attack against Lithuanian state and the entire civil society, inciting hatred for the Lithuanian Jewish community and should be qualified as provocation against Lithuania and its numerous efforts in the field of promoting tolerance, which are particularly intense in this Year of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust in Lithuania and during Lithuanian OSCE Chairmanship.
These crimes must be investigated. We hope that law enforcement authorities will quickly identify the offenders and their actions will be properly assessed in accordance with Lithuanian legislation.
We urge Lithuanian and international community to resist attempts to incite the ethnic hatred.
